For me, snacks for hiking are a guarantee for a happy and easy hike! Namely, during all my hiking practice, I noticed that snacks can make a very, very big difference! By choosing the right snacks, you will ensure that you will not lack energy even on the longest hike, as well as that you will be full of good mood and joy. Each of us has very different interests, eating habits, intolerances to certain products and different budgets, so today I will review as many different categories of snacks for hiking as possible – I believe that you will definitely find yours! And there are a lot of reasons for that! Besides it tastes wonderful, of course 😀 So, there are my top reasons why trail mix is one of the best vegan snacks for hiking: Nutrient Density: Trail mix contains a lot of nuts, berries and dried fruits – so trail mix is particularly nutritious, caloric and filling – which helps you feel full and energetic throughout the hike. In addition, it contains all the most necessary substances – fibers, proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Portability: Trail mix, despite being super high in calories and nutritious, takes up very little space in your backpack, making it one of the most convenient snacks for hiking! In addition, trail mix does not require special storage conditions, refrigeration, etc., so it is suitable even for multi-day hikes! Customizable: You can easily customize trail mix to suit your taste preferences and dietary needs. Fresh Fruit Banana, pear or juicy apple – great companions on the list of the best snacks for hiking! Of course, they are not the best solution for a multi-day hike, but they are a great choice for a one-day hike. Fruits provide much-needed energy, are pleasantly refreshing and, most importantly, are really very tasty! 3.    Jerky Beef Jerky is a good source of protein that satisfies hunger and taste buds! Jerky is a great way to beat hunger on a hike! Saturated, full of protein, they are perfect when you are tired of all the sweet snacks in your basket of snacks for hiking. You will definitely find Jerky you like on the market, but if you prefer to make everything at home – they are extremely easy to make. I am attaching my favorite recipe for you! RECIPE 4.    Olives – Snacks For Hiking From the Heaven I just loooove to take olives with me when hiking! They are like my guilty pleasure buuut – they are super healthy too! They provide you with healthy fats, manage your blood sugar levels and make you feel full, so you will avoid the feeling of hunger during the hike. There is plenty of good ant tasty options in stores, but if you want super tasty treat use this recipe for olives! Hot Honey Olives Ingredients 2 cups Olives (Variety) 1/4 cup Bee Maid Honey 2 Tbsp. Chili Flakes 2 Tbsp. Olive Oil 2 Tbsp. Orange Zest (thinly sliced) 2 Tbsp. Fresh Orange Juice 3/4 tsp. Fennel Seeds (crushed) 3/4 tsp. Pink Peppercorn (crushed) 1/4 tsp. Black Peppercorn (crushed) Directions 1. In a small bowl, combine the assorted olives, orange zest, orange juice, BeeMaid Honey, chili flakes and olive oil. Stir until mixture is combined and the olives are fully coated. 2. Toast the fennel seeds and crushed peppercorns in a nonstick pan over medium heat for approx. 2 minutes. 3. Add in teh olive and hot honey mixture and cook over medium low heat. Let olives simmer and continue to stir until the hot honey mixture has thickened. 4. Let cool and transfer to a small serving dish. Pour the extra hot honey mixture from the pan on top. Snacks for Hiking: Final Thoughts Don’t forget – how you eat during the hike is very important! Properly selected snacks will help you really enjoy the hike, where you will not be in a good mood and energy!
